The 9 to 5 Athlete
Interviews Coming Soon
Welcome!
This is the OutChasing 5 newsletter.
Each week before your long run Saturday, I send out a quick five which consists of Fuel for Thought, a Quick Win, Inspiration Station, a Pro Tip, and a personal Sign Off from me or the team.
We’re here to silently or loudly cheer you on in your endeavor.
We’re here for you so reach out if you need anything!
Fuel for Thought
Having stability in life is the first thing Kilian mentions as what led to his success.
Negative thoughts and people weigh deeply and unfortunately your smart watch can’t measure that impact (yet?).
Quick Win
Everything comes down to committing on a daily basis.
Small daily wins lead to your results everyone else sees as “that comes easy to you” or “an overnight success”.
Inspiration Station
I would love to find the original of this video and meet this woman.
Pro Tip
Let’s lower the mental barrier of ultra distances and get more people out in the open.
Sign Off
I love the idea of creating this community and bringing more people outdoors and into uncomfortable situations. Growth does not occur when people are standing still. We need to be pushed. Many of us need to see that it has been done before by people like us.
Enter The 9 to 5 Athlete.
I will be spending the next several weeks finding folks like me who can juggle family, work, school, fitness. I want to dive into their mindset around work-life balance, their fitness regiment, motivations, and what lies ahead. For every 1 pro out on the course of an Ironman there is probably 50-100 who trained up while juggling every other responsibility and that is unreal. Time to shed some light on these amazing people.
On a personal note I have finally been cleared to run again! Time to ease back into the fitness plan and get ready for my first race in early 2025 (to be announced soon). I will say these (nearly) back to back injuries has enforced a strict strength training must have in all my training going forward. More on that soon too!
I will say my favorite part to this email is nobody reads it. Which is a blessing because it takes away some of the nerves but it doesn’t help me find more people to talk to for this endeavor.
